Information on Visa application in Tanzania

Tanzania Immigration Services have introduced a procedure which will require visitors obtaining visa on arrival to fill in a Visa application form at the point of entry. 

This is a new feature, because until now visitors paying for visa on arrival had only to complete the Arrival Declaration Card like all other arriving passengers and proceed on to the visa desk to pay and get their passports endorsed.

According to the new system visitors arriving without visa will be required to complete and submit two immigration forms - the regular Arrival Declaration Card and the new Visa Application Form.

Please find attached a copy of the Visa Application Form for clients intending to pay for their visa on arrival; they can print and complete the forms in advance to minimize queues at points of entry. Most visitors however prefer obtaining their visa in advance from the Tanzania Missions abroad, to enjoy smooth entry and avoid unexpected queries by immigration officials on arrival.

Not all visitors however can obtain visa on arrival; nationals of certain countries of Africa, Asia and Middle East require clearance by the Director of Immigration Services in Dar es Salaam or the Assistant Director of Immigration Services in Zanzibar to get their visa, a process known as Referred Visa clearance.
